Beautiful view, staff and tourists at hotel are very rude. Breakfast was not great either, very limited. Would never stay again but would recommend visiting the town for the day.
Our experience here was definitely the highlight of our trip to Italy. The most incredible setting with amazing views we were pleasantly surprised each morning with our incredible view. The resort staff were extremely friendly always happy to help. We stayed in one of their villas 5 minutes walk up the path. It was absolutely stunning beautifully decorated in black and white. The room lead onto a beautifully planted white terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. The rumour service each day with new towels. It was a pleasure staying there. The breakfast each morning was amazing. A lovely spread for any culture including lots of cakes Italian style. They would also cook eggs to order. And of course the coffee was amazing.
I would definitely recommend this resort for anyone wanting to enjoy the spa and have a lovely relaxing time.
This hotel is beautifully set but that is as good as it gets!
The first room we were in (105), the best of the deluxe rooms we were informed, was cramped, the shower screens were made of corrugated plastic sheeting and there was no internet connection or hanging space for long garments.
We were moved to a less deluxe, smaller room (106) that did have internet access but also no hanging space for longer garments and the same ugly corrugated plastic sheeting in the shower. The one and only drawer was partially blocked by a sliding door so that it was inoperable and hence unusable. The sliding door made a horrible noise when moved and kept falling off its hinges. There were no bedside tables, the bed was hard as a rock, the towels are skinny, and the water flow in the shower was intermittent and only just hot enough.
One of the key reasons we had chosen this £250 per night hotel was that it offered Yoga and two specialist kinds of Pilates classes.
When we informed the manager, Marco, the first morning of our three night stay that we had decided to leave, he did offer us a suite and private Pilates classes.
The suite was much better. It was spacious and one of the two bathrooms had a glass shower screen. However the bed was hard as a rock and looked like it had been knocked up by an amateur carpenter. The water flow in the shower was intermittent and only just hot enough.
The private Pilates class turned out to be a group lesson involving gentle stretching for people who seemed very unfit. Not one could touch their toes, even the teacher. The teacher openly acknowledged that she had never done Pilates or Yoga let alone been trained in it. She was welcoming and sweet but clearly had been placed in a very difficult position by Marco, who misrepresented what was on offer.
Although the hotel website state that rooms have showers and baths, they do not have baths. They also do not offer a complimentary shuttle service in their electric cars.
The village is traffic free, and very hilly, which requires one to take an electric taxi from the outskirts when arriving and departing with luggage at 15 euros each way.
The website also states that the hotel has two restaurants. This is also not the case. There is a rather dingy restaurant in the evening that provides a very limited choice, e.g. only one desert. It was closed and laid for breakfast by 10pm. The second restaurant is open only at lunch time and is a ten minute walk away in the thermal spa area. We cannot comment on the quality of the food in either. The website creates the illusion of health, fresh foods being available for breakfast. We were somewhat shocked to see individual packets of frosties, cornflakes and the like. The only female waitress on the morning of the 10th October was so incredibly rude; she literally slammed things onto the table.
The hotel can only charge the crazy prices it does because of it link with the thermal spa area, a ten minute walk away. The thermal area does have three nice pools overlooking the sea. The “natural thermal sauna” was dark and smelt like a public urinal. As with the hotel, there were lots of dingy, dirty corners and it had a general uncared for appearance.
This hotel could be beautiful but it needs a lot of money spending on it if it is ever to live up to claims it makes. It is such a shame because the village of St Angelo is idyllic with a beautiful coast line, incredible views and is quiet and peaceful.
A nice place to slow down and relax. Not a place for kids or partying. Relaxing saltwater pools and decent priced cocktails. We had room 124 with a climb of stairs to the most amazing view from our balcony. Well worth the money.
