Gorgeous views and amazing room. The service is top notch as well. In close to proximity to many great places. The valet attendant, Idris was highly respectful, detail-oriented and willing to go above and beyond! At arrival, front desk receptionist, Felipe also went above and beyond when our room was not ready. He was welcoming, respectful and continuously made us feel comfortable and important. In the evening, Marissa the bartender was knowledgeable, charismatic and accommodating. She was swamped with guests, yet she handled the influx of business in a professional and expeditious manner. She remained poised and in control at all times. She even explained the history behind Charlotte Baldwin and the meaning of “X” you see throughout the hotel. Our second time in Houston and we love staying here. Highly recommend it! We will definitely be back!
We wanted a romantic night away and we sure got it! The decor and atmosphere are so inviting it made us never want to leave. Dinner and drinks at the hotel bar were as phenomenal as the service. The details matter in this space. The quotes on the walls, the story on the door keys, it all added up to a dreamlike experience for us. Get the corner room because the view is worth every penny and we felt it was quieter. It was a Saturday evening so we new the party was probably going strong but we weren't bothered. I don't think I will be staying anywhere else when visiting Houston. Next time, were getting a high floor.
Overall a good experience. The staff was nice, the rooms were as well. However, a few things to note; as others have mentioned, the walls are paper thin! Keep in mind if planning a restful vacation.
USE OTHER GARAGES. I stayed one night, used the 1100 Smith St Garage and paid $10. Valet is $40 before tip. Walk an extra 30 seconds and safe yourself a lot of money.
Also, wifi is extra and it’s somewhat slow considering you have to pay for it.
We really enjoyed our stay at the C. Baldwin Hotel. It is a convenient location for activities in and around downtown Houston. The room was well appointed including a good-size, clean bathroom. We liked our view over Sam Houston Park. The Fitness Room has nice equipment including a Peloton Bike. We highly recommend this property!
I am a diamond member with Hilton. We were visiting Houston for the weekend for a tournament that my kids were playing at. Honestly, in these days of COVID, my expectations for our stay at your hotel were minimal. We checked in Friday night, after a long drive, and headed straight for the lobby bar for dinner. We were initially quite disappointed that there was only one server/bartender, and she (and the kitchen) were quite backed up with a wedding party. My wife, kids and I were getting "hangry".....but it took DAVID, the F&B manager only a few seconds to turn the experience around for the whole family.
David truly is a superstar, and Hilton is lucky to have him. His service, attitude, mindset, thoughtfulness and positivity are truly unique, and would put any four seasons/Ritz to shame. David completely changed our experience at the hotel, and turned a routine hotel stay into a lifetime memory. He not only made sure we had all we needed at dinner, but also ensured that our stay was as comfortable as possible morning, noon and night.
However, what took the cake, was that he remembered that my kids did well at the tournament, and arranged milk and cookies for them the night before we left.....what wonderful and thoughtful act.....It caught the whole family by surprise.......this simple act had made us even more loyal to the hotel and the brand. As an aside, I saw him act in this manner with each and every guest....truly incredible.
David is not only an extraordinary employee, boss (I spoke to many of his subordinates who all spoke so positively about him), but an extraordinary brand ambassador. We all have many hotel choices in Houston, but we will return to the C Baldwin predominantly because of David.
