Great little hotel for the budget stay. This is not for someone who wants all the perks of a pricey hotel. Staff is great. Rooms are a nice size. It's not on the strip but it's a walk away. We live on Oahu but use this as a getaway. Only downside for us is parking. There's not a lot of available parking and if you miss out the parking can get VERY expensive at surrounding locations.
The hotel and room was great - very comfortable and great location. The staff were very friendly and check in was seamless. The welcome gift basket was also a very nice touch. I am giving only 4 stars since we usually to get drinks at the hotel bar / lounge wherever we stay; however, we could not get a seat at the bar (Hideout) for the first two nights there, even when we tried to book a day ahead of time. We considered cancelling the rest of our reservation but didn't want the hassle of packing up.
Great historic hotel with lots of cool facts and features in an amazing spot right on Waikiki Beach!! Love love love this area. Will definitely come back. Clean rooms. Front desk at check-in (night time) didn't seem to be the most knowledgeable or willing to help, didn't have to interact too much after. Go Pro rental is a huge plus as well as the fact that there are many complimentary activities( Lei making, hula dance lessons, ukulele lessons, Aqua Zumba and others- available on different days) that you can participate in that are held at the Sheraton next door. Also really love the fact that Royal Hawaiian guest can use the pools at the Sheraton. Family-friendly area as well.
The location of this hotel is absolutely fantastic. Its in the center of Waikiki on Kuhio Avenue and only steps from the huge shopping dining area called International Market Place. No balconies but rooms and bathroom area is very spacious. Kitchenette, microwave, utensils... almost like a fully furnished apartment. Its a bit dated but the price is under $100 a night which is a deal in pricy Waikiki.
There is a club on 1F but the rooms above it are the hotel office and luggage storage area so shouldn`t be a problem.
Staff was friendly and always said hello. At night you will need to use your hotel key to get into the main entrance.
A few dining options on the 1st floor of the property and there is a Japanese supermarket across the street for you beer needs.
This old style hotel is the best. My buddy Elvie is the absolute bomb. She's super friendly and know her job. She takes care of everyone from locals to mainland tourist. I also wanted to add that she looks good with her new haircut.
We loved this hotel! It is just as beautiful from the back as it is from the front! The staff was very friendly & went out of their way to help us!
We enjoyed the location because you don’t need a car & can walk to a variety of shops & restaurants! Our favorite restaurant was the one at the hotel! The food was delicious, the live music & view of the ocean made for a relaxing evening!
The chairs with umbrellas on the beach can be reserved. The staff will go out & prepare your chair with towels & serve food/drinks until 5pm!
The beach bar is a nice shady spot to take a break from the sun & grab a cold cocktail or food. We also enjoyed having a cocktail in the rocking chairs overlooking the restaurant & ocean!
Our room was extremely clean & we liked that the staff freshened our rooms each day while we were out! My favorite thing about the room was the balcony overlooking the ocean & the heated toilet seat! Sounds crazy but it was fantastic!
Great place to stay if you want to be in the heart of Waikiki. Very quite. Rooms meet all needs for a vacay in paradise

Stayed here for the 14 day quarantine with two big dogs, even with lots of dogs staying here it was pretty quiet (besides in the morning, it’s the night the counts). Staff was excellent and friendly, took dogs out three times and brought food up whenever we ordered it. Always had fresh towels ready everyday. The shower was one of my favorite parts, strong water pressure that instantly turned hot. The view and breeze from the balcony was great! Would definitely recommend to people that need to do the 14 day quarantine.
Decent, clean, great communication. My flight wasn’t going to land before 8pm when the reception closed and they were nice enough to text me and make sure I knew how to get keys from the lockbox to gain entry. Housekeeping staff was kind and thoughtful. Room was clean. Location is obviously perfect. Highly recommend for those on a budget.
This place is really awesome, friendly, clean, spacious, good parking, only 5 minute walk to Waikiki beach, nice balcony and great location. I will recommend to friends and will come here next time in Honolulu!!
We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was nothing but amazing! We had an Ocean Front room with a beautiful view. The food and drinks available were awesome. We recommend The House Without A Key to all our people that travel to Hawaii.
Stayed here in June 2019 and it was great. Yes the rooms are a little outdated but they were clean and the beds were comfortable. Where our bedroom was, it was noisy from whatever was going on behind the hotel but we got through it. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended!!
Overall it's a good stay. They only allow for valet parking so it's concerning. As a diamond member I didn't get ocean view during a nonpeak season is a bit surprising. Otherwise, Thank you for taking care of us! The front desk is very welcoming and I absolutely enjoy the staff there.
Really lovely hotel. It was very clean. No bugs. The water stayed hot in the shower. The pool is heated and super relaxing. The staff are INCREDIBLY friendly!!! Their customer service is the reason I enjoyed my stay a lot. They're very knowledge and recommended things to do and places to eat. There's a light breakfast they provide. It's not a $3000/night hotel but it's very nice for what it is. Just somewhere to sleep. Stores all around and walking distance from the beach. It's a really safe neighborhood. We are 2 females and we felt safe walking at night. Definitely recommend.
Sweet 1 bdrm apt. w/good size fridge and apt stove with oven .staff really nice. One block to the beach and lots of shops.
Everything was exceptional. The service, the food, the pools. We had a late flight and they let us do an extremely late checkout to accommodate. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. We will be staying here again our next trip to Oahu!
This is a small hotel with warm accommodating staff. Check in was quick. The manager Carolyn personally placed a call to me to make me aware of a booking discrepancy and gave me a parking discount.
I particularly liked the room because of the thick walls and lots of windows which I prefer over air conditioning. And I like the close proximity to the beach. Will definitely be returning.
Waikiki Central was a nice place to stay if you're only looking for a place to sleep, not a resort. They provide you with everything you need. There is only staff on site for 4 hours a day which made me feel uncomfortable. Like I said, if you're only looking for a place to sleep then this is fine. No complaints really except for the dirty towels they gave us.
The sparkling clean Vive Hotel offers a wonderful breakfast and is in Waikiki near the zoo. It's only a short distance to the beach, loads of shopping and restaurants.
