Reviews from visitors:
Lovely, lovely hotel and well located away from the hoards. Would stay there again in a heartbeat- giving four stars only because of the lack of communication about room cleaning. There is no daily room cleaning service unless you schedule it at least one day in advance, and there is no communication addressing this other than a blip on their website.
If this were more clearly communicated, this place would get a five star rating for sure. Staff was also great-
Do not get scammed!! Booked an "ocean front" room. Their website has two pictures for ocean front (room & view) and two for "ocean view." They gave me an "ocean view" room based on the photos and then told me new management has changed what the terms mean. They did not offer to charge me the lower rate for the "ocean view" room and no manager was available. I left the hotel rather than pay $80+ more a night. There are literally 100s of hotels in the area. Do not stay here.
So first of all, they lost my reservation so check in took much longer than it needed to. Secondly, Don’t be fooled by the fact “parking” is an amenity on the website. Parking is 35 dollars a night. The carpet throughout the place is dirty and needs to be replaced, The “view” overlooked a parking lot. But there was about 10 feet of ocean between the two buildings if I leaned out over the patio rail and turned right, so I suppose you can legally call that a view. The room itself is tiny, no coffee, no iron, no hairdryer, nothing you’d even find at a standard Motel 6. The bed, we asked for one bed, was two twin beds pushed together with a very prominent seam down the middle of the bed. Seems as if every time I spoke to someone in the hotel my room fee went up. Including an 80 dollar fee for the restaurant that was slid under my door on the last night of my stay....the restaurant we never set foot in. I will see if they remove the charge by the time I check out. Staying here was a mistake. It gets a star because it has to, but the air conditioner works and we’ve only had to kill about 10 mosquitoes in the room, so I guess there’s the positives. There are a ton of hotels in Waikiki, there are better options, I would highly recommend a different one. Or an Airbnb which I’ve had great experiences with on the island. I’ve never been this disappointed in a hotel. There is no chance I’d stay here again, or ever recommend it to anyone.
The location is AMAZING, service not great. We stayed for 4 nights and no one changed our linens or empties our trash ONCE. Perhaps I was supposed to ask, but that's was not made clear. No coffee in rooms, coffee in lobby is not available until the bar opens at 7am, and it costs $6 for a small cup. The staff was very friendly, restaurant was good--beach was INCREDIBLE. I have mixed feelings!
They went out of their way for us.
Rooms are small but very cozy
Sunsets are great.
Hau Tree is new people... Great food. They are working on making it even better. Staff is great.
