We went to Cafe Ceylon for the last 4 nights of our Sri Lanka trip and that was the best decision we could have made. It has direct access to a quiet, beautiful beach. The rooms are well furnished (huge bed!) and are actually cleaned every day (this was the only place where our room were cleaned every day). The owner and staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast as well as most of our lunches and dinners on their nice patio, watching the waves. The food is quite good, especially the tuna. We didn't have much reason to venture outside of Cafe Ceylon for food.
It's a bit outside of Hikkaduwa (therefore the quiet beach). You can walk to Hikkaduwa city within 20 minutes.
We befriended the neighbors' dogs which stayed on the patio almost all day long, mostly sleeping. We found that wonderful but be aware of it if you're afraid of dogs.
However, this place was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. We loved the place itself, the staff and the food. Highly recommended.
Really good food, especially the pork chops! Prices are low. Ask bubbly water and grape juice. Nice restaurant on a beach location.
Wonderful food - the owners opened the restaurant for us off-season so our two families could have a meal together, freshly cooked. They even asked us what we'd like them to go and buy! Wonderful ambience also - utterly amazing :)
Very nice boutique hotel. Don't expect extra frills but super comfortable! Amazing food.. we just loved the brownies and the prawn Curry and the and the Curry and the list goes on!
In total, the best restaurant we visited in Hikkaduwa. The food is so fresh and the menu more interesting and modern than most other places. Very nice staff and owner. Great location.
