I couldn't figure out how much it costs per night online, a bit disappointed but it was fine
What an amazing and special place! When we checked-in, we had a warm welcome from the staff members and concierge. We were blessed with a spacious queen room for our honeymoon and we able to enjoy a special dinner on the roof top after a long day of traveling.
This was the ONLY place we were able to access WiFi and it was a god-send because we needed to get in contact with our guides for our tours.
The amenities were VERY clean and brand new; which is rare in Cuba. I know there were a few power outages in the city whilst we were there, but El Candil didn’t seem to be impacted or their backup generators are just that good.
Our concierges spoke perfect English and were very helpful with dinner recommendations and they organized multiple cars for us into town. There was a real kindness about them :)
Would 100% recommend!
We arrived at 2am and received a warm welcome from a smiling staff. And that was just the start of the lovely experience.
The room was cosy and comfortable. The breakfast service was prompt, cheerful and efficient. We even got a welcome Mojito on their beautiful rooftop bar by their pool.
And they offer free WiFi. There aren't many, if any, hotels that do that.
Our only regret is that we didn't book ahead and only managed a one night stay here. We're currently at another hotel and trust me, El Candil is far superior in terms of standards and service.
Would 100% recommend and advise you to plan ahead so that you don't miss your dates like we did.
An excellent place to land for a Cultural or Tourist visit. Very helpful concierges and porter staff. All of them were professional and friendly. Clean and well taken care of rooms. We stayed in two different rooms coming back and forth to Havana on our tour. Although, The master or largest room is spacious but next to the terrace balcony. So, It can get loud at night or early morning.
Bar staff was never around and evening guy was especially rude. Great drinks first few days then watered down by the end of our stay. Not uncommon for service in Cuba but this place was suppose to be classier. They didn't bother to restock for the holidays as a great deal was out.
The rooftop was great for spotty Wi-Fi service as the staff shares the same pipeline. So, Its not ideal but better than nada or paying 1 CUD per hour.
Again, I would recommend as its in the Embassy district. So, Its safer at night where I'm not sure I'd say the same for Old Havana. But, We'd most like go back as Tourist not Cultural visas and try one of the new hotels.
Well kept place with very friendly service! Nice roof bar.
