I was scheduled to attend a bi-annual exhibition in Hamburg and booked with Tortue based on the raving reviews on Google. During this crucial time of a global pandemic, the exhibition was re-scheduled to a later date and my business trip was cancelled. Immediately, I saw that my credit card was charged for 100% of the full stay of the room for my cancellation. I had multiple exchanges with the staff and this highly rated hotel was not able or willing to provide the option to keep it as credits for next stay or even a small discount for penalty fee. Their reason is that Germany no longer has travel restrictions regardless of global conditions. I understand during normal times, this would be fair but during normal times, a huge exhibition would also not be cancelled and this whole transaction wouldn't be necessary. I might add this was the only hotel not willing to provide any wiggle room. With the second/third wave of the virus rumoured to hit, I'd say book at your own risk since this hotel won't be showing any compassion.
We had early dinner at bar noire: very pleasant atmosphere. Really nice, courteous and helpful staff. And last but not least great food (my wife's tip is the beef tartar)
