Check in:
We received a door lock code via email. Once arriving to the property the code did not work. We then began trying to call the number in the email. This number would go to voicemail after one ring. Other guests staying in the same building saw we were having trouble and came over to help. They stated many issues they had during their stay including check in. They were also unable to get in touch with a property manager via email or phone. They had been there many days. Another guest came over and said they had the same issue checking in but they had the property managers phone number. This number turned out to be the same one we had. He was just ignoring us while we spent hours trying to get into the property that we had already paid for. During this time another guest showed up and was not able to check in also. We decided to book a hotel elsewhere. After getting our reservation at a hotel and before we loaded all out bags back up I decided to give him one more call. He answered and without even having the opportunity to say hello he starts going off... my girlfriend and I were baffled. We thought he was talking to someone else and didn’t know that he answered the phone. So we just listened to him unprofessionally yell over the phone... “I’m not obligated to answer my phone!! You are taking time away from me and my family!! Your check in isn’t until tomorrow!!” He just continued to go on and on. Finally I was able to interrupt and ask if he knew who he was talking to and he replied “yes!” I then said “who?” and he responded with “You!” I told him that he was being extremely unprofessional and he obviously didn’t know who he was talking to so I gave him my information and told him that my check in was today and we had the code wasn’t working. He told us to text him our information again and if our check in was today he will figure it out. A lady from a different number called us and gave us the correct door code. She apologized for the incorrect door code and stated that she doesn’t know who sends out the codes to the email. Well we finally got in after hours of frustration.
Cleanliness:
The set up for the room was decent but it was extremely hot and the small AC took hours to cool the room. The floor was grimy... if you walked on it barefoot then your feet would be black not long after. The comforter on the bed had a blood stain on it. The water pressure was terrible and the water was extremely hot. It would burn your skin hot! You would have to wait for the hot water to run out so you could take a shower. The bed was very squeaky.. I mean if you would try to adjust your body it would wake you squeaky.
Location:
It is actually right across from the beach but the area itself is not very nice. There were several people hanging around the property and going in and out of the lower gate between units and I never saw them enter a unit. We just weren’t very comfortable staying there because it looked like drug activity.
Final thoughts:
This was definitely the worst experience we have had when staying at a vacation rental. I am actually the owner and property manager of my own vacation rental and I would never treat a guest this way. If he had answered the phone or had a better system in place to deal with check in issues then that would have taken the most frustrating part away from our stay. He was very unprofessional and obviously does not care about his guests. I would not recommend anyone stay here. The property looks decent in photos but it is deceiving and not worth your frustration.
Good location on East end of Galveston... Very close to beach & fishing. Cozy & clean little efficiency apartment with all the basics. BED WAS SUPER COMFY!!!! The TV was very spotty, but we didn't need to watch much since all our time was spent outdoors. Some details could be improved but overall good place.
We found this place through air bnb and Brandon was so helpful and kind. We loved that we were right next to the Beach! We definitely want to come again! They had everything clean, soap and clean towels to use. The ac worked great also.
Beware! Very poor management- I have never written a bad review but this is just wrong. We arrived to at Coastal Cottage for one disappointment after another. Our bedspread was stained with blood, there was a lot of long hair in the shower and there were no towels. Tried repeatedly to contact management from the numbers listed. Received towels finally the next day, only to discover there was no cold water tap. Could not shower because the water was scalding hot. Requesting refund but no response from the owner or management (I believe one in the same). Will continue to pursue- Don't waste your money- seems like a good deal but don't be fooled.
This place is absolutely disgusting. There was snot on the shower wall, dirt everywhere including the sheets, when I pulled out the pullout couch there was food falling all over the floor. The window unit was so loud we could barely sleep after being exhausted from traveling 1000 miles.
After arriving at 1 am we woke up early to find that there was no hot water. We could not get ahold of anyone to help us. After finally calling VERBO and they had to contact the manager. They said they would be out to fix it and did not come in time. We had to book another place for our 5 day stay and they did not give our money back. You could not pay me to stay at this place. Horrible management and horrible rooms.
