My wife and I stayed at the Ocean House while in town visiting relatives in July. We were not sure what to expect since this is a "hostel" with shared spaces. However, for the price we wanted to try it out due to its great location a block from the beach, pier, and restaurants. The house is quite grand with lots of rooms and a large kitchen. It looks like quite bit of work went into this house and we enjoyed meeting other guests and hanging out on the back patio during a rain storm!
Brought the whole family for a wedding and to see Galveston in December. Very affordable lodging and in a wonderful big Victorian house. Lots of ammenities, we put the kitchen to the test and it was great. Clean and comfortable, great location practically on the beach. I'd stay there again.
Great location in front of beach. My room had view of water. Easy to walk to bars and restaurants. Place was nice and clean. Big kitchen.
