We really liked this hotel. The location on the shipping channel at Pier 21 was perfect with lots of interesting things and restaurants within walking distance. Parking was easily accessible and very reasonably priced.
I will say that it felt more like an adult hotel rather than a family hotel, which we liked. If the beach is your thing, you might prefer to be on the Gulf side of town, but this location serves as a perfect base to explore the charm and rich history of Galveston.
If you judged a hotel by the size of its lobby, this hotel would rate one star, but lobbies are just wasted space used to impress. This lobby got the job done perfectly; they even allowed us to tuck our two electric bicycles under the stairs.
Space was provided where you wanted it, in the rooms. We had a spacious room with two queen beds, a long desk, two lounging chairs, and plenty of space to spread out. The rooms were impeccably clean. The bathroom was small but well layed out with a roomy shower stall rather than a cramped tub.
This is my first time in Galveston, but I will be back, and we will be staying at the Harbor House Hotel.
It was everything I wanted it to be. Not a large chain type motel nor a small shabby relic. This lovely hotel is unique, comfortable, and pristine. Elegant without being ostentatious. Our check in clerk, Dee, was fabulous and a perfect foreshadowing of our stay. A small, well appointed lobby, a smooth elevator, and a quiet hall of closed doors led us to a larger than expected corner room. With exposed beams and velvet chairs, it was a great balance. The view of the pier and shipping channel caught my attention and I found the chair to be a very comfy place to sit and gaze out the windows. The crisp white bedding and just right king size mattress made for a great sleep. The hot strong shower made for a great wake up. Wish we had had more than one night. Will be coming back for more.
Very pleasant place to stay in Galveston. Easy walking distance to the Strand, lots of shops and restaurants. The room is spacious and bright. Shower is a nice size.This is now 2021 February and this place saved our lives!!
Dee needs a raise & all the praise! The best front counter experience I’ve ever had a hotel and even with the girl the next morning, unfortunately I didn’t get her name but she was great as well! The hotel is small but the rooms are so big and clean. We loved our stay and will definitely be back soon :)
Our stay at Harbor House was wonderful. The staff was very helpful and kind, especially Mrs. Dee who saw to it that all our needs were taken care of. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable with a wonderful view; making our stay relaxing and very enjoyable. They have taken measures to ensure guest safety and health during the age of COVID and balance it with wonderful service.
