Great vibe! Healthy, organic and delicious breakfast! You’ll definitely be satisfied mentally and physically. Also, before breakfast, I went jogging with the owner of this hostel. He showed me around the neighborhood! Perfect stay!!!
Don’t let the faux hipster vibes fool you, this property discriminates against its foreign guests.
During check-in I was asked if I was a Japanese national. When I explained that I was not Japanese but a resident in Japan I was told that my residence card would need to be copied in order for me to stay. (This was and is not detailed anywhere on property's site or the site I used to make my booking.) When I confronted the owner he replied that he was aware that a copy of my ID was not required by Japanese law but that he “just wanted a copy of my information” and would return it to me at checkout. When I asked him if he took copies of the identification information of Japanese guests at his hostel he admitted that he did not, and when I asked him why it was necessary for him to have a copy of foreign guests' information, he did not reply. I have been a law-abiding and taxpaying resident of Japan for over ten years and traveled extensively throughout this country, staying at a wide variety of accommodations and never have I encountered such treatment.
In addition, after posting my honest experience on other review sites, I received several emails to my personal email address in which the property threatened to put my first and last name on the internet (aka doxing) unless I deleted my reviews or edited them to his liking. The owner has since followed through with his threats and posted my first and last name without my permission.
Very nice people and service. Extra for towels, slippers, earplugs, and using the washing machine, but the option is there in case it's necessary. Everything is super clean and neat. The beds are comfortable and the room isn't stuffy at all. There's also the new Starbucks, a Tully's and a number of restaraunts around the corner, right above the metro station. Also, the mall above the metro has the city Science Museum and the Starbucks is practically lovely and quiet cafe bookstore open early (in the Japanese sense), from 7 am, not the usual 10am, for which I was very happy. All this, but the room istself was nice and quiet.
Great place for the price, I think.
