Anniversary trip to Europe was canceled because of COVID-19. After waiting for two months, Hotels.com told us we would not be getting any money back because of this specific hotel not willing to give back to their guests. "...due to the pandemic they can only give a credit voucher as a courtesy for this circumstances. And as much as we loved to, we are still bound a contract to our partners hotel and we cannot override any decision coming from them."
I would not recommend due to the way they do business. It is not a courtesy in giving us a voucher to use at your hotel within a year as most people would be unable to travel for two weeks at any given time, as communicated this was an anniversary and carefully planned trip that we lost out on. I think it unfair that they kept all the money from a stay we are unable to utilize, even if we wanted to make it there.
Great location right next to train station. Neat, tidy rooms. Building has an elevator, thankfully, as this is on the top floor. Good view of the city. Breakfast included and reliable wifi (both super helpful). Francesco is a great host and very responsive.
My biggest complaint was cleanliness. The bathroom mirror and shelf right under it was very dusty. The wall area there as well had old toothpaste splattered around. In addition, the shower drain was not draining well and filled up while showering and the metal hanging thing to hold shampoo and other shower stuff was rusting. At least the bed sheets and towels looked and smelled clean. The view was beautiful and the host that checked us in was friendly and helpful with getting us a taxi. Good location, very close to train station. They do offer breakfast but at a cost and the items in the fridge in the room is also at a cost.
The host is fantastic. The rooms are clean and modern. There was a deck or small balcony. The bathroom wonderful. They allowed my us to leave our bags all day the day we were checking out and offered that we come take a rest in the lobby and deck during the day. We did that and refreshed and did some planning and then we're off to see more sites before returning at 6 to collect our bags and catch our train. Great restaurant recommendations too. They sent us to a little place two streets over for lunch. The food great and provided fast. Maybe 2 minutes. I recommend this place. A main course, side, water, and wine was 10Eur. And the breakfast they provide is in a modern little age on the bottom floor. When I am back in Florence this is where we will stay!
