Reviews from visitors:
Having previous stayed in the city. We wanted to see how our experience would compared. We chose this venue based on what we'd seen regarding it's Sky Bar and great view.
It is in a great location with parking at the nearby car park ask hotel for details. It's a 2 minute walk for able bodied but a little more difficulty for those with limited mobility as the car park is undergoing repair works. Although you can pull up outside initially to pick up and drop off.
We checked-in for our 2 night stay which was fine, lovely service at reception. All desks are screened and staff had face coverings on. There is an arrow one way system for entry and exit. Although it was a little disheartening not to get a warm cookie that we've experienced in the DoubleTree hotels before, and some have still advertised as a welcome when returning to their brand.
Reception, bar area all looked clean. Modern, tastefully decorated with that luxurious feel. As was the room. We had a King room at the front which looks onto Edinburgh Castle.
Our room and facilities had been marked by a clean stay sticker from the door into the room, along with TV remote & bathroom facilities which was reassuring. The room was tidy and very comfortable. Enough space for our stay but minor things like being dusty in places e.g. bathroom shelves, tap stained from being wiped with cloth water marked.
Our milk was off for tea facilities which come in a cellophane bag. This was swiftly dealt with by attentive staff member on hand, which was great service. They will not come and change towels or turndown service unless requested in an effort to minimise risk for guests and staff.
Breakfast was continental, no menu for hot food just informed as we came down for breakfast, we had to decide there and then before sitting down which would have been better if we'd have had prior knowledge to decide in advance. e.g.menu on hotel app via a QR code or displayed on a pedestal / clip frame near the dining area entrance.
We enjoyed a quiet drink in the ground floor bar which was pleasant but still left us disappinted as an additional reason for choosing this hotel was the unique SKY bar which would have given us a fantastic view onto the castle. It was a genuine shame and not advertised as being closed, sadly.
Despite this, what we had was acceptable but nothing like what we would have wanted. It is such a shame and as we had made the trip especially to get away having not been able to get married on a original date so wanted to treat ourselves a little. The effects are clearly being felt on the ways in which things are done.
We would consider staying here in future, I think once things have settled down.
Great hotel and super friendly staff! We had a lovely couple of nights stay. Brilliant views of the Edinburgh Castle as well.
A bit noisy neighbours across the street but not too much trouble for us as we are not too sensitive... breakfast was good too.
Cleanliness spot on ! Would recommend!!! Thanks
Best hotel I ever stay, great staff, clean with beautiful view
Great hotel.... reception staff were very helpful.
Loved the warm cookie we were given on arrival
Great friendly and helpful service albeit limited due to local lockdown measures. You get the feeling they're just happy to have people to stay in these difficult times - well done to the staff!
