The good points
Hotel is very central to the old town, only a five minute walk from Waverley Station. The hotel is very clean and modern and they have good covid precautions. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was large and we had a great shower and lovely bath, overall we were happy with our room.
The not so good points
The Scottish breakfast is not really what I expected, the sausages were full of herbs and the tomatoes were covered in garlic and herbs, it was more like an Italian version of a Scottish breakfast, ok but not for me. The wait for breakfast was long, usually 30-40 minutes (this was with only about 10 people in the area seated for breakfast so it was not what you would call busy) , even on the third day when I asked for 2 poached eggs with a slice of bread, it just took ages. They had no yogurt and the fruit bowl I got consisted of apple, a few grapes and a very black banana. They also had no fresh orange.
I felt as if there were very few staff in the hotel, this may have been due to Covid/furlough etc. but I just felt as if there was something lacking. The hotel is lovely with great views from the bar and I cannot fault the staff, I just think that someone needs to be more responsible for making sure you do not run out of the basics on the menu, fresh orange and yogurt are pretty much a standard thing on the breakfast menu, if you are going to advertise it, then make sure you have it - we sat down to breakfast at 9am every morning and it was quiet, so I have no idea how they ran out of items and took so long to make breakfast. All in all, a good hotel if you want to be central to things, a few minor tweaks and it could be really good
Outstanding. Really funky designer hotel. Exceptionally friendly staff and very comfortable beds. Worth paying a bit extra for a “vista” room with fantastic cityscape views. Don’t miss the Nor Loft Bar on the top floor giving you superb views - and a balcony perfect for fizz. Breakfasts delicious too. We’ll be back!
Loved this hotel, ideal location, lovely rooms, Dyson hair dryer and GHDs, free minibar with loads of lovely things. We had a really enjoyable stay! Only thing they could have made it even better was a mirror in the bedroom (so I can do hair etc whilst partner is in the bathroom) and hooks in the bathroom and bedroom for towels and robes... said to hang towels to re-use them but there was no where to hang them! That being said, I'm still very happy to give the 5 stars! Pic is from the bar area which is beautifully decorated and has great views!
Great Hotel!! Stayed there for a week and did not disappoint. New hotel, the staff was very helpful, the atmosphere was great, the hotel/ room were clean. Let’s not forget the mirrors, lots of mirrors in the elevator and the room. Also the fire place in the entrance was very welcoming. The location is also great right in front of train station and tons of shops and restaurants near by.
A perfect hotel to visit Edimbourgh. Location is a few steps away from virtually everything: no need to use public transportation. Rooms are cozy but absolutely comfortable and amenities are great. Staff personnel with no exception are fantastic and helpful. Great view from the rooftop champagne bar. Food is good, chefs at top level. Highly recommended.
