Stayed for 2 nights here the hotel is beautiful and very close to the center we stayed in a family suite even though there was only 2 of us as we had looked at all the rooms on line and liked the look of this one the best the view was amazing. The bed was large and very comfy and so were the pillows and the bedding was of good quality. We had a fantastic breakfast of hot food and a continental breakfast with great coffee Shaun was a lovely young man who was very friendly and helpful to be honest everything about this hotel is great I would very highly recommend it all the staff are wonder and all the covid measures were taking very seriously without it making you feel uncomfortable we would love to return again.
Well done to everyone for a great stay
The hotel was better than expected. Stunning breakfast, was delicious, variety of things (fruit, corn flakes, cheese, croissants, scottish food, Florentine and Benedict eggs, milk, coffe, juices..). The hotel provided to us coffe and hot chocolate with some pastries for free all day. The service was helpful, lovely and very friendly. The room and the toilet super clean. Bed was comfortable and warm. The location is fine. Lovely and impressive hall. There isn't a car park for free close to the hotel, (as mostly hotels in Edinburgh), but they provide a discount for you to park in the city centre which is helpful because the car parks in Edinburgh are expensive.
A four night stay in B+B Edinburgh was enough to confirm that this is my favourite place to stay in Edinburgh. The extremely favourable pricing belies the fact that this is a true master-class in how to run a small hotel. Faultless from start to finish the service was truly outstanding.
It is very easy to form a favourable or unfavourable opinion of a hotel from a short one or two night stay. Four nights is long enough though to expose the true nature of any residence and I can honestly say that every aspect of the service at B+B was exceptional, especially given the extraordinary pressures on hotels currently as a result of ever changing official guidelines on coronavirus safety.
Among all the good things about the hotel the most outstanding feature for me was the enthusiasm and professionalism of the staff. Without exception they are cheerful, helpful and willing to go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. I didn't catch his name but worthy of special mention is the fantastic manager of the breakfast room. Nothing is too much trouble and if you leave breakfast without a smile on your face as a result of his wonderful service you will be a dour character indeed.
Speaking of breakfast what B+B offers is almost worth the whole cost of a night in the hotel on its own. It is outstanding with a generous and fresh buffet combined with stupendous cooked options from the kitchen. I've stayed in four or five star hotels that would struggle to offer as good a cooked breakfast as the one offered here. Simply outstanding.
On top of the service the hotel itself is a wonderful example of Victorian Jacobean extravagance. The carved wood panelling, grand staircase and library will make you wonder if they've left a zero off the price by mistake. They haven't.
My room on the third floor had a stunning birds-eye view out over Dean Village and beyond. Room decoration is simple but pleasing with good quality furnishings and thankfully didn't go overboard on a Scottish theme with wall to wall tartan or cheap 'paintings' of Highland scenes. Just a subtle tartan accent in the bed-head cushions was enough. Thank you B+B for some restraint and good taste. The bathroom was spotless. The water was piping hot. The bed extremely comfortable with very very good quality linen. I don't know if it was by accident or design but I was very pleased to find that there were a mix of plump and slightly softer thinner pillows on the bed. Everyone has different needs when it comes to pillows and there's nothing worse than an otherwise perfect room with only pillows that in one way or another - too high, too low, too hard, too soft - completely ruin your sleep. Five stars for that alone.
A wonderful stay in a remarkable hotel. Highly recommended.
Loved our stay here, room was on top floor with beautiful views. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommend spending some quiet time in the library or the bar lounge. Very chilled.
We had a wonderful stay. We had a cream tea as part of our package and a wonderful room on the fourth floor with a view of Edinburgh Castle. The staff were all lovely and our breakfast was wonderful. Lovely quiet area to stay but close to everything. We will be back.
