The staff was very nice and fun, and our room was clean. No air conditioning, and the WiFi is bad, but that is to be expected at a quaint little hotel outside town. The view was beautiful from our room, and it is a relatively short (albeit very uphill) walk into the nice little town Cortona.
Sounds nice when you read about it, but feels rather "cold" when you are actually there. Idyllic setting in the middle of olive groves, beautiful garden surrounding the hotel, but inside the place was spartan and had an austere feel. Rooms were very clean and newly furnished but again felt unwelcoming, bathroom of reasonable size but had nowhere to lay objects or toiletry bag. Sheets seemed to be changed every day. It felt quite eerie going to your room- long, dull-lit bare, corridors to walk along, the only paintings were of monks or of religious nature (my idea was that the "belle arti" had obliged them to keep some of the opd monestary flavour) . In spite of the location our room was very noisy due to the road under it. Wifi was, as they said, not working and was repaired on the day we went away!!. Breakfast ok, some days had better choices than others. Would recommend if you want a break from it all, otherwise look for something a bit more central.
If you are visiting Cortona, oasi Neumann is a great place to stay. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are very friendly. The views from the room or the garden are excellent. I would particularly recommend this place for conferences or group excursions.
Amazing views over Toscany. The staff is really pleasant. The hotel is a bit old and the rooms are quite simple but it is adding to the charm of this former seminary. The village is at 15min walk, the slope is quite steep and the pavement not always existent.
