I had a little misunderstanding with them when I arrived but it was slove quickly by Jonathan. My room was spacious and very clean. Linen is great and bed very comfortable. The hotel is lovely and super well located. I will return again.
Should be a 5 stars hotel i stayed here 10 days and i can reccomend to everyone.
Amazing service, fast wifi, nice rooftop terrace with a small swimming pool and great view!
The hotel itself is beautiful, yet there are some pros and cons to staying at this hotel. And to be honest there are better options!
PROS:
*The location is great, you can walk everywhere from there. Taxis are always nearby. It's a beautiful colonial home, and the rooms are decent, nothing out of the ordinary.
CONS:
*When I selected my room I booked Option 1 which is 1 double bed that sleeps 2 for the price of $80 a night, yet when I arrived to the hotel with my husband I was told that I needed to pay an additional 100,000 pesos ($30) for him per night since I had not clarified he was coming along with me. I asked if I would be getting an upgraded room for the additional price, and they said I wasn't I just had to pay for him to stay along with me.(Something that has never happened to me before and trust me I live in hotels as a Flight attendant ) I ended up paying way more for this hotel than I would have liked, I believe that for such price I could've stayed at the better options around this area.
(Also I witness another couple having to pay extra while checking in so its a little scam they like to play)
*The Breakfast is decent, eggs with toast and whatever side they have for the day. One day it was one chicken nugget and a few fries, another it was a spoonful side of mashed potatoes. Not to sound ungrateful but for the additional charge of $30 a night for my husband, I expected more.
In other words, there are better options!
This place is super clean and in a great area. The staff are attentive and very accommodating. We were exhausted after a long travel day and were offered early check in on them without even having to ask! Then while unpacking, we were greeted with a welcome drink! It's that kind of attention to detail and care that made it a luxury hotel. The room was spotless and the water was HOT!! (a rarity throughout our travels). The rooftop was also spectacular!! We will be back and will tell everyone to stay here when in Cartagena. Thank you!!
The Getsemani Cartagena hotel is beautiful, the staff are very attentive but their management team made it feel like a tourist trap by choosing to lie to us for almost four days instead of being straightforward.
We went for our honeymoon, and I had reserved the best room in the hotel, it was large and beautiful. But upon our arrival we were advised by a sister hotel manager and the front desk clerk (in a rude tone) that we they could not host us as we had agreed because according to them there was a piping problem with the suite. We asked if they had any additional rooms available they denied having any, and then they said that they had arranged accommodations for us at the sister hotel down the road.
We were assured that it was the same five star experience that was promised to us at Getsemani Cartagena. When we were taken to the sister hotel, although it’s an ok hotel it was nothing like what we had paid for. The room was plain and much smaller. It was nothing compared to our suite. We tried to be compliant as we understood that there was a plumbing problem and it was the weekend. It would be difficult for them to get a plumber to fix it.
They hosted us at the sister hotel three days in a row promising us the room was almost ready, we would ask everyday and they would insist the problem was not yet fixed.
Then it slipped out of one of the staff members that the guests currently in our promised room should be checking out that day!!!!
So instead of management owning up to the fact that they had overbooked their facility, they blatantly lied to us and kept on lying for almost four of our seven days of stay. They refused to compensate us in any way as the other room assuring us that our suite and that small room went for the same amount.
When we finally got to stay at our suite in the Getsemani Cartagena the suite was beautiful and what we had paid for.The staff was very kind and helpful, and food was delicious.
But the fact that management would rather lie and coverup their mistakes instead of being honest is the reason why we won’t return.
Don’t lie to your customers. Customers are not stupid. Just be straightforward.
