Excellent hotel. Really a five-star. It has a privileged location in the historic center. The pool with a unique view and very well equipped. ⛱ All staff are committed to providing world-standard service. Comfortable rooms, bathroom with local amenities. Breakfast has a great variety in the buffet and a complementary menu with other delicacies.
I would first like to thank the entire team at Bastion from the bottom of my heart for helping me make such an important week extra special for my fiancé, my parents and I. A special thanks goes out to Jhordan for assisting in a month long process of planning our engagement and of course Alex and Eric for making it a realty.
I would also want thank Don Jorge, Cesar and Rafael for their exceptional service. We apologize for not remembering the name of some of the other staff but I have to say that GHL Hoteles has assembled and all star team at Bastion Hotel in Cartagena. They truly made us feel like family.
Overall, we were impressed with the comfort of the rooms and bedding. The entire property is meticulously maintained, from the lobby to the pool terrace. We had a great experience at the in-house restaurant El Gobernador and with all of the hotel’s amenities.
Without a doubt, there is no place else to stay when our family and friends come back to Cartagena.

I recently stayed at the Bastion and we were very disappointed with the service at the hotel. The check in process took forever (at least 30 min) even though I sent all the required information to their reservation department. When I mentioned it upon check in, the receptionnist asked me to send it again to his email, explaining me that the reservation department had another email. I was surprised that for a 4 star hotel, there was no better coordination between departments. After this "painful" check in, we asked to another employee if the restaurant was open, he was not sure, he had to check... Again, we were "surprised" that the employee was not even sure if the hotel restaurant was open...
The room was clean, every simple, to be honest, I was not impressed... The mini bar was empty due to the Covid-19 protocole, the towels were placed in a protection bag on our bed, which to me, did not make really a lot of sense... If you go to that extend, why not have the remote for the AC and the remote for TV also covered with a plastic protection?
I understand that now hotels must follow new protocoles but some of them just does not make sense for a client stand point.
The swimming pool area was really nice and clean, but almost no service...
Overall, we were just very disappointed with the level of service.
Very nuce hotel in the perfect central location, great rooftop bar and facilities.
Will definetely go back!
