Reviews from visitors:
We were due to stay here July this year as part of our honeymoon stay. However, due to the Corona Virus, our flights, tours and everything else was cancelled. The borders in Colombia were closed so there was no way we could make it to Cartagena. We informed the hotel, with evidence and they instead provided us with a voucher to return only on very specific dates even though we have paid hundreds of pounds for our stay and we are teachers who can only fly out during school holidays. They are still yet to give us a refund, despite us requesting this instead. They do not seem to care about their customers; I would avoid booking here any time in the foreseeable future. You won't get your money back if your reservation has to be cancelled through no fault of your own.
Full disclosure: I have not stayed at this hotel. I have only dealt with the customer service regarding a reservation during the pandemic. My husband and I were scheduled to go to Cartagena the week the pandemic hit the US hard in March 2020. On top of that, I had a serious knee injury and could not walk. My doctor wrote a letter for the airline and hotel stating I could not travel. I reached out to the hotel and told them I had a medical note from my doctor, and additionally Colombia closed its borders to outside visitors (so even if I wanted to hobble around on crutches, the country was closed).
I reached out to the hotel and sent them my documentation, and they replied they would give me a "bonus voucher" to visit them in the future (with very specific dates attached, blackout dates, etc.). I told them no thank you, I just want a refund. I have no idea when we will be able to travel again, and as the pandemic grows, we will not be able to travel there any time soon. Even the airline refunded us immediately for a non-refundable flight! They have a VERY strict no refund policy and refuse to bend at all. Be aware of this policy before you book, and plan to lose your money if you have an emergency or the world shuts down. The pandemic alone is a reason to be compassionate to visitors during this time, but they will take your money without shame. I will never stay at this hotel in the future
Not perfect, but just about deserves 5 stars.
Beautiful hotel with just 7 rooms ideally located in the walled city. Room was spacious and beautifully decorated with a private jacuzzi. The courtyard and pool area is stunning.
Breakfast in the room was a nice touch and service was always friendly.
Negatives:
- no free water in the room
- hot water didn't work (though they fixed it quickly)
- they forgot to pick us up at the airport (though apologised)
- actually right next to the busy ring road so it's quite loud on the roof terrace.
This is a great hotel. The rooms are very very nice. Very good for the price you get. And the people are very very kind. The rooftop is beautiful. Highly recommended.
Stayed for two nights, excellent service and gorgeous hotel. 8 rooms, so attention to detail is superb. The rooms in the front of the hotel are a little noisy as there is a busy street nearby. A bit off the beaten path of the old City, but that is a welcome attribute given how busy the rest of the city is. Great cafe and restaurant (La Mulata) nearby. Breakfast is decent.
The hotel is pricey although worth it!
