Location"Cairo time"
Got the pleasure of visiting in 2007 before Cairo was a little different. It was a beautiful hotel with a crazy good view of the river. It is down the street from the square and Cairo is quite an experience from the pyramids to the museum to garbage vilage and the coptic church.
Shepheard's Hotel was the leading hotel in Cairo and one of the most celebrated hotels in the world from the middle of the 19th century until it was burned down in 1952 in the Cairo Fire. Five years after the original hotel was destroyed, a new one was built nearby and was named the Shepheard Hotel.
I visited Shepheard Hotel in the winter of 2007, and I still recall the great rooms, great service and great food to this day.
The most memorable part of the hotel for me was the expansive continental breakfast in the mornings, where they served a vast variety of cheeses, yoghurts, breads, fruits and veg.
The rooms were spotless and tastefully decorated and the hotel itself was centrally located, right across the river.
The hotel is within reasonable distance from the Giza Complex and is often filled to capacity due to it’s optimal location.
