Reviews from visitors:
Congratulations dear reader you've done some research and found the reviews. You should only stay at this hostel if you are completely deaf and have little or no sense of smell and don't value a peaceful comfortable nights slumber. Sadly a family member booked this establishment purely on price. The drains smell due to incorrectly capped toilets, the whole hotel is a echo chamber. It's literally a cathedral of echoes and a giant whispering gallery.Anyone talking in the building and you can hear it in your room. Adjoining room to yours takes a leak in the night you can hear the urine hit the water. The bed belongs to a previous era of history to my mind the Spanish inquisition as they are instruments of torture. Reasonable location but that's it. Noisy smelly hell hole. Tired and dated and run on a shoe string and a victim of its age and lack of investment. Check out the view we enjoyed from our one outside window. Avoid and spend just a few euros more.
Location is excellent not too far from the railway station (15 mins walk ) and on the edge of the old town so easy to walk to the sites. Shower and toilet in my room for extra cost but overall it's cheap. 24 hour desk and free WiFi.
I stayed there for two nights in mid-June 2010 and had no problems. The price isn't bad (60€/night for a double) and the location is phenomenal--you're maybe 200m from the cathedral, and also very close to the train and bus station.
Rooms very spare but very clean (my TV didn't work, but who goes to Cadiz to watch TV?). No AC, but the ceiling fan did a great job of cooling down the room--and it was in the 90s when I was there. The only window opens to the interior patio, which means zero view but also minimal street noise for those who like being able to sleep at night. The owner is a total grouch and gets grouchier if you try to pay with a credit card, though they do take plastic. Luckily for me, I speak Spanish and happened to have enough euros with me, so he was marginally less cranky after that.
I suspect there are friendlier places with more personality that charge less (and that fill up faster, which is how I landed here). I also think it could go from fine to fantastic with just a few tiny tweaks, so it's sort of a shame. Still, if you're looking for a place to crash in Cádiz, you could do much worse.
Overpriced in high season for a Tiny Room, very noisy - nevertheless good Location and Friendly staff..
very good location, staff, 100% recomended
