Not worth the $371 a night. Comfort Inn is better than this.. Upon arrival was told there will be $40 cash only car parking charge nightly whereas I booked with parking and breakfast included. I was told at check in that there is no restaurant open only in room dining and there philosophy of breakfast included is $25 credit towards in room dining and I was informed of that by the Manager on Duty No in room dining menu and when suggested to the front desk, I was told that at check in I should have been advised of the menu being on TV screen. No tissue box. Desk phone out of order. No easy access to electrical outlets to plug the chargers. THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE MATTRESSES FROM THE 1920s. ABOVE ALL...the noisy heat fan kept me up all night. Please don’t waste your money.
Just some old building
I’ll start this off by saying that the staff here is positively fabulous and the location of the hotel is phenomenal; we were within walking distance of everything we wanted and a short drive towards the museum of science. However, the rooms are a bit underwhelming for the price — we found ourselves overly warm and waking up so sore from the hard mattress. The pillows are soft, the blankets are weightless and smooth, but there’s nothing comfortable about the beds beyond that.
And, while I assume it was from disuse, the first two times I attempted to fill the tub the water was yellow which didn’t exactly make me want to take a soak.
Beautiful historic hotel with lots of charm and character. We came during covid restrictions and the Oak restaurant was closed. Staff was attentive and helpful. Good location to walk to many of Boston's famous and historical sites
I would like to start off by saying that I booked the room through the Signature Hotels and Resorts Collections and was rather exited to get away to from Florida with all of this craziness with COVID going on. While I would like to say that this hotel was eventing I had hoped for, it sorely missed the mark. The room was clean and rather spacious which was a plus but the problems we had were actually with the Perks of booking through the Signature Hotels and Resorts Collections. What was supposed to be a 100$ credit towards the restaurant, was given as room service since the restaurant was closed which was not stated on the website when booking. The room service was an extra 4$ on top of whatever the restaurant menu items were and to be frank, tasted horrendous. The clam chowder soup had a grits like texture with the clams still being sandy. The lobster roll was ridiculously salty and still had cartilage not completely taken out. The "old bay fries" seem to have forgotten the old bay seasoning. The Boston Creme pie was literally missing the creme and was literally a cake with chocolate drizzled on it. While I would like to have a laugh about this, it wasn't funny and honestly ruined the hotel for me. Overall, I would recommend the hotel but I would urge anyone staying here to skip out on room service all together and wait for the restaurant to re-open.
