Reviews from visitors:
Do NOT book at this hotel!
Since there are good reviews for it, I can only assume that it may well be a perfectly nice place to stay in Bordeaux – as long as everything goes well.
In our case, we had the misfortune to be in France during the current, ongoing transportation strikes. (For anyone not aware of how much these strikes have paralyzed France, in Paris we witnessed their extreme effects. All but two of the metro lines were closed, most of the commuter trains were shut down, taxis and Uber were hard to come by, numerous flights were cancelled, while there were reportedly 300 plus miles of traffic jams each morning and evening.) Once our train from Paris to Bordeaux was cancelled, we contacted the hotel to inform them that, sadly, we would need to cancel our visit to Bordeaux. They informed us that since we had missed the 7-day cancellation deadline, they would not refund our money, that as a small property they could not afford to, but rather, offered to help with rebooking trains.
I responded that I understood completely, but since we could not risk getting trapped in Bordeaux, due to our other upcoming travel arrangements, we could not try to rebook trains at that moment. Rather, I suggested a compromise solution, perhaps that they keep our money while offering me a credit that I could try to use within one year. I received no response from the hotel.
As I wrote earlier, I suspect that this is a perfectly nice place, but based on our experience, would still caution against booking here. Clearly the management of this hotel is more focused on money than on hospitality. I was quite surprised that they were not willing to consider at least some sort of compromise solution to the unfortunate situation we were in, foreign visitors caught up in a difficult circumstance in their country.
We had a really great stay in bordeaux with a warm welcome from françoise and julie.
The hotel is lovely composed by the colours as well as the furniture. We really appreciated their taste in design and even more the super service by helping to plan a special surprise and make it a unforgettable stay.
Thank you for that! Cant wait to come again!
We stayed 3 nights at Hotel Singulier and every detail of our stay was fabulous. We made a reservation for 2 nights, but decided to stay a third night, so we had the pleasure to try 2 rooms. First we were on the 1st floor (w/ shower, view of living wall) then we had the suite on 3rd floor (w/ a nice bath in the room and large windows). The hotel has 7 rooms and a roof deck and there is a beautiful spiral staircase to reach the rooms. The ground floor has an intimate lobby for checkin, breakfast etc.
Both rooms we stayed in were stunning, very tastefully decorated and we appreciated all the nice luxe details - crown moulding on the ceilings, fluffy towels and luxurious bed linens, nice soap (toiletries are eco-friendly - no plastic waste) interesting and functional furniture. The living wall is also a nice touch for the rooms with an “interior” view. They had umbrellas we could use also.
The location of the hotel is very central, but tucked away on a quiet street. we walked everywhere or took the tram/bus with ease (via the Bordeaux City Pass for transport and museum access).
We recommend trying François’ breakfast - cafe, juice, fresh baked breads and eggs!
And finally, Julie et François are wonderful gracious hosts - friendly hospitable and full of the best recommendations for Bordeaux! François speaks beautiful English and helped me practice my French. Julie et François, merci beaucoup pour votre hospitalités, recommandations et pour m’aider à trouver les mots justes!
Top!
Hotel with a lot of charm. We stayed there for one night and had the pleasure of being upgraded. Very nice decoration, spacious and comfortable room. Good bedding, well insulated room. The roof terrace is a nice addition! Too bad we were pressed for time because I will have enjoyed the venue longer!
