Our stay at Casa Bertagni was certainly one to remember. The beautiful boutique guesthouse is positioned ideally in Bologna, a short walk from the train and bus stations, as well as the best sights and restaurants (not that there are any bad ones).
The warm and generous hospitality from Guido and the team has you feeling part of the family, while opportunity to purchase items from the walls or cupboards allows for collecting a souvenir with far more character and story than a tea towel.
Breakfast was an absolute treat, on a level above other offerings we’ve had previously. Bologna is a winner, and so is Casa Bertagni.
How can we give 6 stars?
Guido and his staff make it look so easy. If it was so easy, every hostelry would have incredible design, gracious service, amazing breakfasts, and a superb location.
My wife and I usually stay in apartments utilizing multiple services for our reservations. Casa Bertagni showed me what I was missing. Our room was large, with an amazingly comfortable bed, and easy to regulate heat/AC. The bathroom had a double head rain shower and the nicest, thick towels.
Viscount Guido, an architect by trade and nature, is Philippe Starck, Kelly Wearstler, Marcel Wanders, Timothy Corrigan etc. wrapped up in one package, His designs at Casa Bertagni are whimsical and beautiful. There was so much to look at, and travelers feel enveloped in luxury. The staff is kind, friendly, warm and ridiculously accommodating. This has to be the very best place to stay in Bologna. I would like to clone Casa Bertagni.

Absolutely wonderful. We have been doing a road trip around Europe and this is the best place we have stayed. Beautiful rooms, the people who work here are so kind and helpful. Great location, 10 minute walk from town centre
Great B&B in a good location ,the hosts were really helpful, and assisted with restaurant booking etc, Stefania has a smile which lights up the whole room and Giulio was very accommodating. It's like they've thought of all the things that annoy them when they stay in a hotel/B&B and made sure they were perfect here, the shower, super king bed no duvet proper sheets, efficient aircon, a good varied breakfast and one of the best guide maps we've ever used, Bologna is a very walkable city too.
