1 ART HOTEL COMMERCIANTI
images
Great location, the room was quiet and clean.
Hotel well located and helpful staff.
Recommend a walking tour nearby.
The breakfast was wonderful and the staff really friendly. The room was very big and well decorated. However, we stayed on the annex building with no view of the old town.
2 Boutique Hotel Il Guercino

I'd really like to give the hotel a 3 1/2 star rating. We stayed for 3 nights as a family. The location of the hotel is good as it's near the train station (easy day trips to Florence or Venice). It is a good 20 to 30 minutes walk to the main attractions of Florence (not a problem if you like walking!). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a highlight. Good leaf tea, filter coffee on tap and they will make you an espresso. Usual selection of breads, cheese and scrambled egg. The decor of the room was a little old but it was clean. My big criticism was the mattress on the bed (completely worn out).
3 Hotel Liberty 1904

images
Nice little hotel about 20 minutes walk from the center of Bologna. Rooms small but very clean. Tasty breakfast (warm croissant, coffee, mozzarella, tomatoes, bread, fruit). There is a hospital opposite the hotel, but it is not very bothersome.
4 Art Hotel Novecento

images
The location is perfect...pedestrian area. Customer Care of Front Desk staff is exceptional. The rooms are beautifully simplified and comfotable...so quiet. AC worked accordingly to thermostat that was easy to use but the most comfortable was the giant shower with a built in bench..big enough for 2! Great design elements throughout the hotel....I will definitly come back every chance I have!
5 Hotel Corona D'oro

images
My last stay was in October but I have also stayed here in the summer. Last time I checked (December) it was closed due to the current COVID restrictions in Italy but I hope it reopens soon. It’s a nice, small, well furnished hotel with friendly staff and a nice breakfast. The location is good, not too far from the main station (which now has a direct rail link to the airport) and close to the attractions of Bologna and lots of nice restaurants
6 UNAHOTELS Bologna Centro

images
Excellent location right at the train station, very well connected if you want the flexibility of being able to catch an early train or flight (as buses to the airport leave right from here). Rooms are well designed, although a bit too plasticy, really nothing to complain about though! Our room didn't have a good view but not a deal breaker. Very fair price, excellent breakfast (7:30 to 10:30) included! 10-15 minute walk to central areas of touristy action. Couldn't have asked for more!
7 Art Hotel Orologio

images
Excellent location in the centre of Bologna. Good breakfast, particularly considering the impact of Covid on the ability to serve people. Great staff who work very hard. We had a family room which everyone liked - good sized double and two single beds. We took a taxi to the hotel as it was about the same price as the Aerobus (which would be a 15 min walk)
8 Hotel Touring Bologna

images
We had a wonderful stay. Great location in a quiet neighbourhood but a close walk to all of the sites. Rooms were really nice and we were lucky enough to get a free upgrade. The terrace has lovely views of the city.
9 BLQ01 Boutique B&B

images
City Chic
Despite its corporate sounding name, this B&B is an eclectic mix of shabby chic, with modern touches.
Traditional enormous entrance door opens onto a dark cool lobby and the tiniest lift in the world. The room we had (there are only two rooms!) was large and airy with a comfortable king size bed with inviting Zara linen bedding. The wardrobe had the door fronts missing so you could see the wallpapered interior. The main light was a cluster of around five fabric covered shades - and many of the picture frames had no pictures! A/c worked well and the Velux roof-light was remote controlled. Pity that was the only daylight - the B&B is on the third floor and has no windows to view the rooftops of Bologna.
The adjacent bathroom, for your exclusive use, but not en-suite, is tiny but well appointed - with a good shower and modern fittings and tiles.
Breakfast was good, served by a lady who came in to prepare it. A choice of cereals, orange juice, tiny hot toasted salami and cheese sandwiches, assorted breads and jams and fresh fruit and natural yoghurt. The only issue was Nora Jones also turned up to prepare breakfast via a CD player, not the best wake-up call in our books.
Location wise it is on a street lined with trees which is unusual in Bologna, and you are on the very edge of Bologna Centrale.
A great stay enjoying this city chic!
10 portici hotel

What about when everything is fine? Room 224 perfect, very high and frescoed, warm, welcoming, with a terrace overlooking via independence. Professional and kind reception at the reception. Then a beautiful package with a starred dinner in the fantastic theater restaurant, where the chef has exceeded my expectations. Congratulations also to the attentive and attentive waiters both in the restaurant and at the bar. What else to say: go there and you will not regret it. The tavern on the second floor is also very nice, but for the first time and if you want to treat yourself to a gift, the starred restaurant is a beautiful experience of flavors. Well done and see you soon.
11 Al Cappello Rosso

Centrally located in this beautiful Italian city. Just one minute from the piazza. Excellent service and helpful, friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Each room has a different theme, so you really feel special.
12 Best Western Plus Tower Hotel Bologna

One of the best hotels I have tried. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is nice. Property is clean and well maintained. View from the top is beautiful. Easy to find.
Will definitely book again.
Highly recommended.
13 Hotel Metropolitan

Very good air conditioning. Very nice hotel with modern amenities and features. Triple room was a little small but efficient. Wonderful rain shower and spacious bathroom. Great location. Very clean and excellent tv channels. Great breakfast selection and views from the rooftop. Helpful staff.
14 Aemilia Hotel

images
Fantastic hotel and great service. Located in a great spot only a short 10-15 minute walk to the Towers, or a 5 minute taxi to the train station. Very clean rooms, comfortable beds and great concierge service. Highly recommend. It’s definitely on the more corporate side, but was perfect for our needs. Great view of the city core too!
15 Starhotels Excelsior

images
Stay here, trust me! The staff is beyond nice, the hotel is super clean, the rooms are spacious and the breakfast is perfect. One of the best breakfast bar I’ve had in a while - you can find freshly baked goods, hot food like eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, there’s also a fruit bar, juice station, and cereal. Tonight is my last night and I’m already sad about leaving. Definitely recommend! And if you’re traveling via train, the station is right across the street.
16 Savoia Hotel Country House Bologna

images
Nice hotel, comfortable room and bed with excellent buffet breakfast. Need to get a taxi downtown. Watch the fares, should be 12 to 15 euros not twenty Some drivers like to take you the long way. Ask before you take the ride. Bus okay in the day if you are not in a hurry.
18 4 Star Bologna - Rooms & Apartments

I came with my friend. I'd like to spend more time there if I'm gonna be there once again. It's so private and you feel like it's home. Perfect place to Netflix and chill if you don't wanna do that in your home.
Great place to be in, Great location too. I'd really suggest y'all to try this place. You won't regret.
19 Il Convento dei Fiori di Seta

images
An ancient building renewed with style while preserving few historical elements. Very stylish both the lodge and the rooms. Unluckily the architects looked more the style and less to the functionality, indeed the room was lacking in small but useful detail like a night table and reading light, and few similar. Personnel at the reception very friendly and good breakfast.
I do my best to keep this list as up-to-date as possible. I last updated it in February 2025. If you know of a hipster hotel that should be on the list, let me know. Click here to contact me. Thanks!
