Reviews from visitors:
Great location and comfortable. Apartment has a gorgeous balcony and private courtyard.
Positive:
The house is very cozy overall and the location is perfect if you want to visit Bergamo Alta. Angela parents were very warm with us.
Negatives:
I would strongly reccomend NOT to go here in the Winter. The heating system is not homogenous in the house. The first floor is very hot and the ground floor is cold. If you adjust the temperature higher the first floor becomes even hotter and the ground floor becomes warm but the floor is still super cold. There is practically no ventilation in the rooms downstairs so when you put the heating to the maximum is difficult to sleep.
The rooms downstairs are basically dungeons - yes cozy but no light what so ever. So you end up spending most of the time upstairs and the space is rather small.
Regarding the free food provided: at least for Italians, all very average - low quality with some food even expired. We had 20 eggs in the fridge expiring in 48h from when we arrived. Nice touch but not for us! Instant coffee expired also since 1year. I do not expect the owner to fill the fridge with high quality products but at the same time I got annoyed by having food mostly full of conservants which I will never eat!
The kitchen is getting older and when you switch on lights, kettle and hair dryer in the house there is a sound at least for 10-15 minutes which it goes away only after a while and you switch off all in the house.
I think in the summer is another story - the garden they have is amazing - so you open the rooms into it and have some rest there too. But in the winter for me is a no go! A hotel would have been same price but 10 times better. Yes smaller space but the house in the end is small given the ground floor is just for sleeping.
Finally avoid Bergamo Alta with toddlers - there is nothing to do, all streets are anti pram and there is only one minuscule playground very sad. You can take the car and go to the mountain or lake but between Christmas and New Year queues are horrendous so it takes hours.
Fantastic host of a wonderful apartment at a great location. Would go there anytime again.
This was the best womentrip we have ever made.
We (five women from Germany) have seen and rented a lot. From Paris over Nice, Rome, Berlin and so on.
But no flat or house was so beautiful and well equipped like Porta Dipinta.
The fridge was filled with everything we needed for breakfast, the house is very clean and Angela answers directly via whatts app if we had any question.
After a two minute walk we were directly at Alta City with a lot of really good restaurants, bars and nice little shops.
Here a tip: rent a car at Bergamo airport via check 24, because Milano and Lakes like Lake Como, Iseo and Garda are near by.
You can reach them all in 1 hour!
Absolutely all stars and more for Porta Dipinta and Angela
it was a lovely house and the owners were very nice and helpful
