I was charged a deposit 1 month before arriving, yet according to the T&C this should have only been 1 week before. Not a big problem, however, upon arrive I was told that I had not paid a deposit and I should pay the full amount which I did. When checking out I tried to settle this by showing the restaurant my bank statement and was told that the company on the statement was the old name of the hotel and they have now changed names and I had to settle this with my bank. This seemed suspicious.
When I then paid for the bar bill using a card I pointed out that the receipt showed the same name as on my bank statements and that they are still using the merchant to process card payment. This was also suspicious and I was still told they could not help me and I should speak to my bank.
What made the whole issue worse was when I queried the transactions via the booking platform the hotel told booking that the extra change was due to my drinks bill (which is very odd because it was taken 1 month before arriving at the hotel, again suspicious). I even had the invoices for the bar tab which the hotel gave me when I paid.
Eventually I managed to get booking to apply some pressure and the hotel agreed to refund the money to a bank account (they would not reverse the charge on the card, also odd). Luckily I had an account that can take Bulgarian Lev but I’m sure the majority of tourists that visit Bulgaria won’t have this. The hotel said this was just a mistake despite me showing them my bank statements and trying to explain to them what had happened. Their behaviour was not that of a professional establishment that had made a simple mistake.
If you stay here make sure you pay everything on a credit card so you have proof of payment and keep all receipts and invoices.
In relations to the condition of the hotel and quality of food you can read the other reviews. They give a good overall picture of the situation. I wish I had read these in more detail before booking.

Great location, great team. the breakfast is above average. The utilities are clean. The thermal area in free and really good.
The location is a bit far from the center , 15 minutes by foot.
Don't have so much parking around, consider that.
The Massage here is nice, good lobby , and average wifi.
I do not recommend to take duplex tho, too many stairs, and it's frustrating after a day or two.
The hotel amenities were great for both kids and adults! The kids room had a lot to offer and was clean. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. The food was extremely delicious, rich and even a nice variety for vegetarians!
The hotel offers a good value for money. The breakfast and dinner are buffet with quality food. The personal of hotel are willing to help you. However, I would improve the quality of beds.
