Reviews from visitors:
Boasting of 80 bedrooms and suites, The Forest Lodge is part of the Camp John Hay hotels with excellent views of pine forests and the Cordillera mountain ranges. The road entrance is grand in itself, leading up to a wide and well-designed valet and lobby. All staff levels are courteous and well-trained, and checking-in is a breeze. The hotel is pretty straightforward and no-frills. You get everything you need, and the units are clean and comfortable. The balcony is spacious and nice to hang around to enjoy the cool morning breeze. Only downside is that most of their listings in online travel platforms don’t have breakast included in the rates. Overall a well recommended country hotel to stay in in Baguio city.
The hotel is good. It’s actually great value for money and I’m thinking between 3 and 4 stars.
The room is really nice and clean and very comfortable. They didn’t have rooms with bath tubs though. Only showers.
The staff is very nice.
The location is perfect.
The only feedback I have is the food is REALLY bad. I could not find anything normal to eat. It’s all greasy mostly pork dishes. No fresh vegetables, no fresh fruit.the cheese is tastes like the cheapest cheese you can buy in a convenience store. Really low quality food. If I was the owner I’d hire a new Chef.
Other than that the place is amazing. I was thinking between 3 and 4 stars because of the food but it’s really great value for money. Only P2,700 a night for a beautiful room (not including breakfast).
Hotel room was spacious and clean. Food was overpriced. Ordered take-out instead. Location was okay. However, our stay felt more like patients in a hospital more than guests welcomed with hospitality. The only staff that had been welcoming was the guard at the carpark. The "health monitor" lady in white treated us like children, always hovering, waiting for the next second our face shields were off— even God forbid, outside in an open area while waiting for a taxi. Instead of being a place to rest and relax, the hotel felt more of a dreadful place to stay in, to say the least.
The staff and management completely ruined our experience with their disgraceful behaviour which made the hotel feel like a prison camp.
From the first minute we arrived the staff were unwelcoming, cold and rude; guest comfort is clearly not their priority here. The receptionists and 'welcoming' staff didn't even bother to greet us properly, they just glared at us and sulked as if we were an inconvenience or danger to them. No local information or advice was offered by reception, in fact getting any words out of them at all was like trying to get blood from a stone.
Staff treat guests with coldness and suspicion as if we are all infected zombies from Manila, we had negative swab test results the SAME day we arrived which made us far more safe than any of the staff, many of whom have NEVER been tested. After one employee (the 'health monitor' in white coats who behaves like a prison guard but is not even a medical professional) barked at me to wear a face shield OUTSIDE in the car park, I informed her that I had a negative swab test result the day prior. I then asked her when she had last taken a test? She said that she couldn't remember...Because of course she's never actually had a swab test and I am in fact FAR safer than she is. There are also far too many staff for the hotel which results in them standing around doing nothing most of the time, it looks absolutely ridiculous and actually causes further chaos.
On day one, we approached the hotel lobby after hiking where a staff member rushed out to us and insisted we wear face shields just to enter, even though this wasn't necessary when we checked in earlier that day! There were other guests and some staff we saw around the hotel wearing their face shields up on their head or not at all (see attached photo) so singling us out was wrong and nothing to do with health and safety. I saw groups as large as 9 in the restuarant with NO social distancing whatsoever, which categorically proves the health and safety claim of face shields at all times (even in the car park) is absolutely absurd and laughable.
Their behaviour cannot be explained by 'health protocols' or any other excuse, it was all completely unnecessary and made us feel incredibly unwelcome throughout our stay. I would not recommend this place or remotely consider returning.
The stay there was unremarkable. Facilities and amenities are clean. Items are a bit defective like the electric kettle, mini ref. The view was fantastic. Over all, okay. Just okay.
