My girlfriend and I heard about Hotel Magdalena through a personal recommendation and decided to book back in late January to escape NYC to some warmer weather. Little did we know that there would be a snow storm on top of the pandemic only a couple of weeks before we arrived!
Nonetheless, our stay at the hotel was excellent, we really like the decor and found the rooms to be really comfortable, the beds fantastic and overall very happy with our stay, and the staff.
We loaned a couple of the hotels bikes and while they needed minor servicing, they got us around town comfortably and for free! The restaurant at the hotel is popular and really nicely laid out, it feels like a nice hideaway. The pool is heated and you need to reserve but we did take a dip, it was perfect.
We did experience a little bit of noise from nearby construction (not in the hotel) which was pretty well solved with some earplugs. Great hotel, highly recommend!
The grounds were beautiful and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The decor was also nice however a bit impractical (shower door had no sealer on the gap so water got all over the floor, toilets didn't flush quite right, very few power outlets in the room...etc). We were also not informed that the hotel is currently under construction before we booked which we thought was odd since it effected where we chose to stay in the first place. The staff was overall very helpful however could not tell us wether breakfast was available or not one morning and I had to ask several times to get replacement towels. Overall it was a very decent place to stay but does need some improvement.
A great experience from valet, to the front desk, to the pool, to the restaurant! Everybody was super friendly and welcoming. The room was awesome and it's in a great location. I'll definitely be staying here the next time I'm in Austin!
This hotel is one of the most pretentious and overhyped places and exactly what Austin DOESN'T need. The staff is very arrogant and thinks too high of themselves. People will pick up on it pretty quickly, this is a paradise for the overprivileged wannabe crowd. Get lost.
Very cool hotel, even better restaurant. Looking forward to visiting again
