Reviews from visitors:
I love it here. Got a room on the gold level floor and the lounge is very nice. My room has a superb view, the staff are very friendly, and the food downstairs is also really quite good. The towels are really nice and big and the bathroom is a very grand and exciting experience. So are the beds. Unfortunately, as with many hotels, the pillows are a little flat. Not sure why, but I think having some of the flat variety and then some a little bit higher might provide good pillow diversity and allow for more quality rest. Otherwise 10/10 would reccomend!
We stayed here back in August while visiting Austin to purchase a home. The hotel was stunning, staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable. The pool is awesome. We've been to 5 star resorts around the world and this hotel is up there for us. For the people complaining about parking, you're in the middle of a city- what else do you expect? Being from NYC, $36 a night is cheap. Parking in Austin, even in parking lots are costly. Bottom line, great hotel and we can't stop recommending it.
Don’t stay here if you want a nice hotel. Good restaurant and bar, reasonably friendly staff, nice furniture and decor, decent room service. However, our Valentine’s Day would have been better spent elsewhere.
Aside from the already-high cost per room, they nickel-and-dime you on the basics. Parking is $36/n, and when my partner got some ice cream from a grocery store, we had to pay $5 to have spoons brought up. Insulting and not remotely hospitable.
Other things failed to live up to expectations for such an expensive hotel. The sound insulation between rooms was poor. There was vomit in an elevator and nobody cleaning it, just a “Wet floor” sign. There was no signage in the lobby to tell you where check-in was when coming from the garage.
Most surprising, the hotel ran out of food, so our Valentine’s Day meal was a cold ham sandwich—for $12, as if they were proud of their food rather than scrambling to cover for an inventory management screwup! To be fair, the whole city was snowed in, but that had been forecast for a week beforehand, and the hotel could have prepared better.
Conclusion: Stay somewhere else.
I would highly recommend staying here. Everyone is unbelievably nice. The rooms are absolutely phenomenal. Even the other guests were lovely to get to know while our stay here. We had such a great time we decided to stay another night. Love it!
Due to not traveling much over the course of the last several months I decided to stay at the Fairmont with my girlfriend, sister and friend as a way to support our local economy while also getting the sense of traveling.
I chose the Fairmont entirely because of the pool which is by far the best in Austin. The amenities here are all pretty amazing, but being summer we wanted to get away and swim here. I decided on this during the previous week and chose Friday because that’s generally when we all hang out. Unfortunately this was a bad decision.
We waited in line for 45 minutes to get into the pool area and upon doing so we were only able to find a small area where we were able to put our stuff on 1 chair, which wasn’t even in the enclosed pool area. Upon doing so we then tried to go to the pool where we were told we couldn’t enter without our masks. There was no way we could this without just setting our masks out on the side of the pool which is much less safe for ourselves than not wearing the masks. After trying to come to some conclusion of how to do this with the worker we ended up with no answer and they refused to let us in the gate. Left the pool without swimming which again was the only reason we can and spent money here. Pool was also packed and no one here had any remote idea a pandemic was going on. Guess we should’ve care on a weekday.
Doubt I’ll be returning to support here after the workers were rude to us at the pool.
