The Renaissance Atlanta Midtown is my go to hotel when I need to be in Atlanta overnight. The staff is wonderful and makes you feel like family. I have been happy to get to know the front desk, restaurant, and some of the managers and they are always the nicest and most helpful people you will find.
Bed was made however, the room itself did not seem that it was not cleaned. Molded leftover foods from the previous guests were left in the refrigerator; Crumbs and trash in drawers, no toiletries left in bathroom for our visit. If that doesn't bother you, then it's a good hotel that is walking distance to restaurants and to the MARTA.
The lobby is nice, and the location is good. But I must say this was the worst Marriott Renaissance I have ever stayed at. The rooms are fairly spacious, but when I checked in after a long day of work, I noticed my room had this awful smell of perfume. It seemed that that perfume smell was also on my comforter. So I demanded a new one, outraged that a clean comforter was not put on the bed before I arrived. As the night wore on, I realized the smell was also coming through the air vents. It gave me a severe head ache, so at 2 a.m. I had to go down and request a room change, even though I was checking out in 5 hours. The front desk agent complied but said she had to give me "two double beds" instead of the king bed that I had booked and was paying for. I doubt this because the hotel is like 14 stories and did not seem anywhere near close to capacity. Beyond those issues, if you book, please be aware that walls are very thin and there is almost no sound insulation via the the door. It is very loud -- you can hear everything that occurs in the hallways and in the rooms next to you, including dogs barking. And above you, the ceiling also lacks insulation. Whenever someone drops anything on the floor, it reverberates down into your room, likely waking you up. Also, this hotel seems very rowdy and a favorite spot for young, intoxicated travelers and college students. It may be your thing, but if you are there for business or over the age of 25 or so, this may not be the place for you. Finally, this hotel fails to live up to Marriott's standards for Covid-era safety precautions. Nearly half of the customers wear, or even appear to possess, a face mask, even in the elevators or while talking to hotel staff in the lobby. And the staff did not ever challenge them or provide them a mask. If the hotel fails to enforce masks -- even in crowded elevators -- what else are they failing to do to keep guests safe and healthy?
The hotel’s aesthetics and decor were great. However, the cleanliness of my room was subpar. My bed only had one sheet covering the mattress. There wasn’t a fitted sheet. Additionally, there were stains on the mattress and comforter. I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. To be candid, this property is a disgrace to the Marriott brand.
Awesome property. Avery at check-in was quick, helpful and great to work with.. Great rooms.. Restaurant was good as well..
