Me and my boyfriend stayed here less than a month ago when we could still eat in the hotels restaurant. We live in Amsterdam and decided to do a staycation in our own city. We were doubting to write a review but after a month of consideration we feel we are obliged to share our story. The overall stay was okay. The room was nice but there was nothing special about the restaurant and the food. I would recommend other nicer restaurants in the neighborhood.
The reason why we give a one star review has nothing to do about the product or service. When we had our dinner, we heard some staff members talking about a Covid-19 case in the hotel. We are Dutch so we understood everything as we also had a seat close to the bar. We heard that the owner of the hotel had an illegal party with 40 people inside the hotel and probably spread the virus to a lot of people. The complete management team and more staff members were infected by him and all had to stay home after being infected.
It is imaginable and unacceptable that you think you are about the law and that you risk the safety of your staff members AND guests. I recommend people to stay far away from this place. We will NEVER visit this place again.

We booked a trip for our honeymoon, which was supposed to be in August. Given everything that has happened, i.e. not being able to fly, we were hopeful that Hotel Arena would provide some compassion and allow us to re-book for a future date. My fiancee is in healthcare and was unable to take the time off with the change in global circumstances, even if we could fly.
We reached out before our travel date to request either a credit, re-booking, refund, etc., but received NO response from Hotel Arena. It has taken us over 6 months to get a refund, and we needed to submit a claim to our insurance company.
We totally understand that the COVID pandemic has effected many businesses, but the lack of response demonstrated a lack of compassion or care in these hard times. Given we already had to push back our wedding, this compounded our stress levels.
All I can say is that I hope the staff and management aren't treating others the same way they treated us. With that being said, I'd highly recommend looking at another hotel in the area.
We went here with our 1,5 months baby daughter. Since my wife is still breastfeeding she ordered a mocktail. Instead they served her a strong alcoholic cocktail
